It’s Tuesday morning, which means we made it thru the worst of the storm. Yesterday’s temperatures were -8 for the High and -11 for the Low. Once you factor in the wind though, the High was -34 and the low was -37. As Matt said after coming in from loading wood in the furnace: “It’s not fit for man or beast out there”.
Our home has an outdoor wood furnace as its main heat source, with a propane backup. Sunday night and last night- we had them both running. With winds at -40, the propane helped us not burn thru wood as quickly. Now everything is frozen in ice and snow.
I sit here now in the front room watching to see if Matt can even get out of the driveway to get to work. His job was closed down yesterday but is back open today… I think they should have delayed it another day. Temperatures this morning are -11 and about 80% of their employees work over an hour away. Matt is fortunate to work 8 minutes away from work but that doesn’t mean anything when you live on country roads that haven’t been plowed.
But today will be another lazy pajama day for the boys. I started crocheting a baby blanket yesterday but was disappointment when I ran out of yarn. So until I can get to town I guess I’ll just make more dishcloths.
Hopefully everyone is staying warm and having safe travels in this weather. Looks like it’s going to warm back up a bit towards the end of the week so that’ll be nice. Maybe we might be able to make a snowman after all 🙂
